Our University has successfully retained the HR Excellence in Research Award after a 12- year review.

We've held the European Commission award since 2011, recognising our full adoption of the principles of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers. It’s an important mechanism for implementing the principles of the Concordat and demonstrates our University’s long-term commitment to the career development of researchers.

In September 2023 we submitted renewal paperwork to Vitae including an update on progress against our previous action plan (2021-23) and our new set of actions for the next period (2023-26).

This ‘forward looking’ action plan was developed following extensive consultation with research staff on their priorities and areas of concern, as well as analysis of the results of the Research Staff Survey undertaken in summer 2023.

Thank you to all researchers who engaged in the consultation and/ or completed the survey for their input.
