LEAD MCR returns: supporting student voice and leadership

25 Feb 2026

LEAD MCR, the Students’ Union’s annual leadership election, is now open. This is a key moment in the year when students choose the eight SU Executive Officers who will represent them across 2026/27.

Lead MCR

Voting runs from 10am Monday 2 March to 3pm Thursday 5 March.

Why this matters

The SU Executive Officers influence major aspects of student life, including academic representation, wellbeing, inclusion, sustainability and community activity. Supporting students to take part strengthens democratic engagement and ensures student leadership reflects the diversity of our community.

How colleagues can help

Promote the opportunity
A short mention in lectures, emails or Teams spaces can increase awareness among students.

Encourage students to stand
Many candidates run because a staff member recognised their potential. Your encouragement can make a real difference.

Signpost students to vote
Please direct students to the Students’ Union voting site once voting opens.
