Changes to pay spine – 1st June 2026

From 1 June 2026 changes were made to the pay spine for Grades 1-5 to improve pay in these grades, helping to address compression issues in our former structure caused by increases to the Real Living Wage.

Payroll deadlines

Payroll deadlines until the end of 2026.

Pensions – Paying Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs)

USS, NHSPS and GMPF members
You will need to contact your Pension Scheme directly to make an AVC election. Once your instruction has been received, we will process it in the following calendar month. For example, an election made in January will take effect in the February payroll.

UMSS members
You will need to submit the relevant request via Connect. We will process your request as soon as possible. Deadlines broadly align with those for submitting information to People Services, as outlined in the payroll tables above.

Pension Saver members
Although AVCs are not available under this scheme, you can change your contribution rate by submitting the appropriate request via Connect. Similar timeframes apply as for UMSS members.
