Free eye examinations and contact lens appointments

Colleagues can book an appointment at the University’s Teaching Clinic, located in the Carys Bannister Building, just off Dover Street.

Third-year Optometry students carry out eye examinations and spectacle dispensing under the supervision of fully qualified staff. Appointments last around 90 minutes, and discounted spectacles are available for staff and students, alongside safety spectacles at set prices.

The clinic is also offering free contact lens trials and check-ups for anyone aged 16 or over. Whether you already wear contact lenses or would like to try them for the first time, a wide range of options is available, including daily and monthly disposable, multifocal, coloured, toric, rigid and bifocal lenses. You’ll need an up-to-date eye examination prescription to take part.
