We’re getting ready for Oracle Fusion

The latest from Future Foundations including change champions, showcase demos and user testing.
Introducing any significant change can be challenging. That’s why we’re helping colleagues prepare for Oracle Fusion, our new People and Finance system, ahead of launch this November. Recent activity has included launching our Change Champions network, hosting showcase demos to introduce Oracle Fusion, and testing the new system with colleagues (known as User Acceptance Testing or UAT). Here’s an update on each of these activities.
We are the Champions
Our Change Champions network is here to:
- share simple key messages about what’s happening
- explain what change means for local teams
- encourage you to take part in activities and events.
- listen to your questions or concerns and feed back to the programme
- help keep change visible across the university.
Our University-wide Change Champion network for Future Foundations is now active, and the energy, enthusiasm and commitment from everyone involved is already incredible to see.
The network will play an important role in helping colleagues prepare for and navigate the transition to Oracle Fusion, supporting communications, engagement and readiness activities across the University.
This is an exciting milestone for the programme and just the beginning of what promises to be a highly engaged and collaborative community.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed for their support in bringing the network to life. We look forward to sharing more updates as the network grows and begins making an impact across the University.
Showcase demos
Our showcase demo team has completed the first University-wide demonstrations of Oracle Fusion and its key functionality. The team delivered 28 sessions, both in person and online , covering all eight core processes, for both colleagues and line managers. More than 550 people attended and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive:
- 94% of respondents said they found the session useful and informative
- 94% said they understood the need for change
- 82% said that Oracle Fusion looks intuitive to use
- 80% said they feel confident about Future Foundations and the changes ahead

Remember, these sessions are intended to give an early introduction to Oracle Fusion, formal role-based training will be provided closer to go-live.
Testing the system
We're now four weeks into User Acceptance Testing (UAT), an important stage where colleagues test Oracle Fusion using real-life scenarios to make sure it meets our needs before go-live.
Thanks to the commitment of colleagues across the programme, testing remains on schedule and several areas are performing ahead of target.
As expected during UAT, testing is helping us identify defects and opportunities for improvement before go-live.
Current activity is focused on:
- resolving and retesting defects
- working through the most complex Payroll and Pensions scenarios
- continuing close collaboration between teams to make sure we're ready for Release 1
Over the coming weeks, we will also work with colleagues who use assistive technologies, trade union representatives and University leaders to gather further feedback and ensure Oracle Fusion works effectively for all users.
