Purple Place security update
27 Mar 2026
Extra layer of protection to be aware of
Your colleague benefits platform Purple Place is about to get even more secure. From Tuesday 31 March, Reward Gateway who host the platform will be adding an extra layer of protection to your account by introducing multi-factor authentication (MFA).
What is multi-factor authentication?
Multi-factor authentication is a security feature that requires you to verify your identity using two or more methods before accessing your account. You’ll continue to login as normal using the University’s single sign-on, however once every 90 days, Reward Gateway will now ask you to verify your identity via a text message or an authenticator app such as Duo Mobile.
How to set up multi-factor authentication
From 31 March, upon logging in to Purple Place you will be asked to set up MFA. The process only takes a few minutes, simply follow the steps on the platform.
If you want a step-by-step overview, check out this user guide that takes you through the process.
If you have any questions, please use the live chat function on Purple Place or reach out to the Reward Team via People - Connect.
