Travel advice to the Middle East

26 Mar 2026

With the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, we are providing an update on travel to the region.

Unfortunately, travel warnings are still in place for the Middle East and we are asking all colleagues to not book travel to – or through – this region. This is in line with the University's travel policy and our duty of care to our colleagues and students.

You can find a full list of countries classified as having extreme risk in this document, which will be updated. You should also refer to the government travel advice page

Colleagues can continue to book travel to other countries.

Booked travel

If you have booked travel through Key Travel, either to the Middle East or which transits through, please contact them directly to confirm the travel arrangements.

Please note that any travel booked after the Middle East conflict started will not be covered for cancellation or curtailment. For more information on travel insurance information visit StaffNet or contactinsurance@manchester.ac.uk for further help.

We know that this is a concerning time for many and we will continue to communicate with you and keep you updated.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
