NHS: Local blood typing events
25 Feb 2026
Drop in to find out your blood type and register as a blood donor
Blood is needed every single day – for emergencies, cancer care, childbirth and people living with sickle cell. Because blood can’t be manufactured or stored for long periods, the NHS relies entirely on people stepping forward, yet only a small proportion of the population donates regularly.
NHS Blood and Transport are running local blood typing events to give people an easy way to start. Those who are eligible and happy to register as new blood donors can have a quick finger-prick test to identify their main blood type. No donation is required on the day, but registration is needed to take part.
Where: Arndale Shopping Centre, Manchester (on the groundfloor in front of Next)
When: Monday 2 March - Sunday 8 March.
