Delivering Manchester 2035 – our Research Committee announces investment
10 Feb 2026
New fund to support you in preparing applications for Horizon Europe – contributing to our University’s ambition to be the best partner for impactful collaborative research.
Our University’s Research Committee has announced its first new investment towards the delivery of From Manchester, for the world.
The Horizon Europe Support Fund will provide financial support for external grant writing, consortium fees and other activities to support EU bids.
EU funding provides significant opportunities for research funding and building collaborative partnerships with leading academics across Europe.
Vice-President for Research, Professor Colette Fagan said: “Investing in your efforts to build partnerships with our European neighbours will help us deliver our Manchester 2035 strategy, including our ambition to be the partner of choice for those who share our commitment to excellence and turning knowledge into impact for the public good.
“One of the suggestions we have heard from many researchers is that support to prepare EU bids and develop partnerships will accelerate our performance in this competitive funding field. So, we are trialling this new investment as part of the delivery plan for M2035.
“I encourage colleagues to explore how this new resource can support their teambuilding and bids for European funding.”
The Research Committee is developing funding mechanisms which will support the delivery of From Manchester, for the world and this new fund will be evaluated and refined following an assessment of its impact.
The new fund complements our other internal research strategy investment for pump-priming interdisciplinary research and for curiosity-driven research (call forthcoming at the end of February 2026).
