Celebrating Interfaith Week
10 Nov 2025
Strengthening faith and belief understanding at our university
Interfaith Week (IFW) is an annual initiative started by The Interfaith Network for the UK in 2009, running from Sunday 9 - Sunday 16 November. Interfaith week is for everyone: those of faith and those with no faith. The aims of the week are to:
- Strengthen interfaith relations across the UK
- Increase awareness of the different and distinct faith communities in the UK
- Increase understanding between people of faith and of no faith
In the current global climate where division is heightened, it is especially important to bring together different communities to create understanding, awareness and to strengthen relationships.
Get involved
We have a growing Multifaith Chaplaincy Team who are here for our university colleagues, students and community at all times. We are committed to strengthening relationships between different faith communities, and have numerous activities year-round you can get involved with, regardless of faith or background. Alongside our ongoing activity we also have:
- Buddy Scheme: a new scheme for colleagues, designed to bring people together to informally talk about their experiences with faith, meet somebody new, and learn from one another. Participants will be paired with a colleague of a different faith or no faith, and encouraged to meet up at a time/location that works for them - please fill out the Interfaith Buddies Expression of Interest Form if you’d like to be involved.
- Pop-up Chaplaincy: a monthly drop-in listening service on campus to speak with one of our Chaplains about everything faith, life and spirituality. Our chaplaincy page will be updated regularly with future dates and locations.
Last weekend our chaplaincy team were involved in Remembrance Sunday, and we’ve recently celebrated and recognised Samhain, Diwali, and Rosh Hashana just to name a few. The team also support students, and are collaborating with the Faith and Belief Forum, MMU and the CCJ Campus Leadership Programme for a ‘Faith Stories on Campus’ session this Interfaith Week.
