We would like to wish all our Hindu, Sikh and Jain students and colleagues a very Happy Diwali. We hope that this Diwali brings you happiness, prosperity, and joy to you and all your family and friends.

About Diwali

Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is a five day festival and is celebrated by millions around the world and across Dharmic faiths. It symbolises the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

For Hindus, it marks the return of Rama and Sita and honours Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity. Sikhs observe Bandi Chhor Divas, commemorating Guru Hargobind Ji’s release from imprisonment; Jains celebrate the enlightenment of Lord Mahavira; and some Buddhists mark the occasion as a time for reflection and renewal. Celebrations may include lighting ‘deevos’ (lights), families getting together,  sweets, fireworks and intricate  Rangoli designs to welcome Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity.
