Get involved with the Jewish New Year 2025

From Monday 22 September to Wednesday 24 September, Jewish communities in the UK and around the world will be celebrating Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
Rosh Hashanah, which means “Head of the Year” in Hebrew, marks the beginning of the Jewish High Holy Days and the start of the Hebrew year 5786. It is a deeply spiritual and reflective time, focused on introspection, renewal, and setting intentions for the year ahead.
One of the traditions includes hearing the Shofar (a ram’s horn) being sounded, and we’re pleased to offer the opportunity for colleagues, students and our community to get involved this year.
Shofar on the Green
The shofar's powerful blasts will echo throughout the campus as Jewish Chaplain, Rabbi Eli Simon, will bring this central festival ritual directly to us on the University Green.
When: Tuesday 23 September and Wednesday 24 September, 4pm
Where: University Green, Oxford Road
Signup: Not required – please just turn up on the day
