Say thank you, share appreciation, and celebrate your colleagues throughout November
On Friday, 7 November, we're proud to introduce Colleague Recognition Day, an opportunity to pause and celebrate the dedication, talent, and teamwork that makes our University a great place to work and grow.
We’ve acted in response to our Your Voice Matters survey, where you told us that only 46% of colleagues felt thanked regularly for their contribution.
‘The best thing about our University is our people. This November, we’re proud to launch Colleague Recognition Day — a chance to celebrate the passion, dedication and teamwork that make Manchester truly exceptional.
Take a moment to recognise the outstanding contributions of colleagues across the organisation. Whether it’s a thank you or an ecard on Purple Place, it only takes a few minutes - and it means a great deal. Let’s make November a month of appreciation and connection.’

To help everyone take part, there are a few ways you can recognise colleagues this November:
Send an e-card
A simple yet meaningful gesture to express your thanks. With a selection of new designs, you can personalise your message and share it on our recognition wall or via a private message.

Thank you scheme
Line managers can reward outstanding work with a gift, like vouchers, flowers, or an extra day off worth up to £100, with approval from your Faculty or PS Directorate budget holder.
