15 May 2025
Professor Peter Green to take up interim role

Professor Martin Schröder completes his tenure as Vice-President and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering on the 31 May. The University is currently conducting a global search for Martin’s successor and there will be confirmation of a new appointment soon.
From the 1 June, Professor Peter Green will take up the role of Interim Vice-President and Dean until the new appointee takes up the post. Peter is currently the Faculty’s Vice-Dean for Teaching, Learning and Students and a key member of the Faculty Leadership Team (FLT). He has functioned as FSE’s Acting Dean several times in recent years when Martin has been away or on leave. As Interim Vice-President and Dean, Peter will provide continued stability and leadership across the Faculty, with the full support of the FLT.
Professor Duncan Ivison, President and Vice-Chancellor, said: “It is no mean feat to serve as Vice-President and Dean for a decade; Martin has done so with great distinction and success. He has led the Faculty through significant transformation and change, including the major restructure of the Faculty from nine schools to two, the development and delivery of the new engineering campus and the associated move of 7,000 staff and students to the South Campus, and the establishment of the Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Materials.
“Since I joined The University last summer, I have been able to benefit from Martin’s vast experience and knowledge and have valued the contribution he has made to the University Executive. We will thank Martin for us many contributions in the coming weeks, and I, and the wider UE, look forward to working with Peter as Interim Vice-President and Dean over the next few months.”
Further updates on support for Peter's Vice-Dean portfolio will follow.
