New Register of Interest process launches
07 Mar 2025
We are launching the new and improved ‘Register of Interest’ process and all colleagues grade 6 or above will be required to complete the form by Tuesday, 6 May.

Whilst the University encourages everyone to build strong personal relationships and networks at a regional, national, and global level, we need clear transparency about these connections to ensure any conflicts of interest are declared.
As such, we are asking all relevant colleagues to complete their Register of Interests form. Under the University Ordinance VIII and the Financial Regulations, it is a requirement that all University Staff on Grade 6 or above must declare any personal interests that include:
- Any paid employment, including self-employment,
- Any board positions held with other companies, or
- Membership of professional bodies.
Related policy for Outside Work
Please note that for some forms of outside employment, you may need further approval. If you are considering engaging in any outside work or are currently engaging in outside work, please ensure you read the updated Work for Outside Bodies Policy and Guidance and follow the process to gain approval as required.
For information on University Consultancy, please see the updated University Consultancy Policy and refer any questions to the Consultancy Services Team.
How to complete the form
A new system has been launched for 2024/25 on a dedicated SharePoint site. Please note that the first time you access the system, you will see a pop-up requesting access to the app permissions. Please click on ‘Allow’ to progress into the system.
Once you are in the system, submitting a ‘Nil Return’ should not take more than four clicks.
Guidance on submitting a declaration of interest is available from the Register of Interests guidance pages or see the Register of Interests StaffNet page for further information.
Please complete your return by 6 May 2025.
If you experience any problems using the Register of Interests online system, please email roi@manchester.ac.uk
