We are seeking staff volunteers to be a key part of Team 200 at our flagship bicentenary celebratory event: Universally Manchester Festival.

Taking place from 6 – 9 June, this one-of-a-kind event will feature four days of ideas, performances and activities for all, and staff volunteers will be an integral part of delivering the event and a truly remarkable experience for visitors.

Be part of the action!

We are looking for staff volunteers to work alongside a team of student ambassadors to provide a friendly, positive, and knowledgeable welcome to all our guests and ensure the festival runs smoothly. There are several roles that you may be allocated to as a staff volunteer, these include but are not limited to:

  • Area managers to lead each festival area/venue and act as escalation points for our student ambassadors.
  • Artist/VIP Liaison supporting performers and speakers – ensuring they have the information and logistical support needed.
  • General visitor management and guidance (welcome, signposting, queue management, Q&A).

Key information

  • Volunteering opportunities are available between Thursday 6 and Sunday 9 June.
  • A variety of different 5-hour shifts will be available, you can apply for as many or as few as you would like (subject to management approval where appropriate).
  • Volunteers will need to attend a briefing of around 45 minutes in the run up to festival – there will be in-person and virtual sessions available.
  • A minimum number of roles are required to be filled to enable the running of the event and these are considered essential roles. In cases where you are assigned to a role considered essential you may be eligible for TOIL. Please refer to Guidance on Staff Volunteering at Universally Manchester Festival for further details.
  • If you would like to volunteer during your working hours or in an essential role that may be eligible for TOIL it is essential that you obtain approval from your line manager before submitting an application.
  • University alumni are also able to apply and volunteer their own time to support the Festival. This will be on a fully voluntary basis.

Managers and staff are encouraged to read the Guidance on Staff Volunteering at Universally Manchester Festival ahead of making an application and/or approving staff participation.

Get involved

Please note that this form is to volunteer to provide general staffing support for the festival.  This is separate to any submission that may have been made previously to deliver activities as part of the festival programme.
