Car park access during Christmas and New Year closure

Booth Street West multi-storey car park and Charles Street multi-storey car park will be closed over the Christmas and New Year closure period, closing at 11.45pm on Thursday, 21 December 2023 and reopening from 6am on Tuesday, 2 January 2024.

The barriers at North Campus, Cecil Street, Dilworth Street and Dover Street car parks will be raised/set to raise automatically during the closure period, and as the Aquatics Centre car park is open to the public, this can also still be accessed.

ID cards/permits: FAQs

A reminder of what you need to do if you lose or forget your ID or permit card.

Q: I lost my ID card. Will my parking access still work?

A: No. If your ID card has been replaced by P&OD, you MUST visit the Car Parks Office to have your parking access activated on your new card. This does not happen automatically and cannot be done remotely.

Q: What happens if I forget my ID or permit card?

A: If you forget your ID/permit card, access can still be gained in two ways:

  • You can use the intercoms for assistance, and you will be required to provide your name and staff ID number.
  • Alternatively, you can take a ticket to gain entry, and then contact the Car Parks Office, who will arrange for you to exit the car park.

In both instances, your name and the date will be recorded. In any 12-month period, you will only be permitted access without payment on two occasions. Any further requests will be refused.

Q: I forgot my ID/permit card and paid to park. Can I have a refund?

A: No. The Car Parks Office is contactable between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday, and our Attendants are contactable via the intercoms between 6am and midnight, with Campus Support and Security monitoring intercoms between midnight and 6am.

If you forget your ID or permit card, you should contact the team to arrange alternative entry/exit to the car park, before making any payments. If you do not contact the Car Parks Office or Attendants at the time you have an issue, you will not be issued a refund, as alternative access arrangements can be made.
