An update on progressing students

10 Jul 2023

The marking and assessment boycott continues to cause unavoidable delays to our progressing students.

Following our last update on 4 July where we updated you about the impact of the ongoing marking and assessment boycott (MAB) on a small number of our graduating students, the action continues to cause unavoidable delays for some of our progressing students whose marks have not yet been submitted to an exam board.

By the end of tomorrow, we will have emailed every student due to progress into their next year of study to explain the impact of MAB on the timing of receiving their results, and to reassure them that these delays should not impact their ability to continue with their studies into the next academic year (2023/24).

We anticipate all progressing students will receive access to their end-of-year marks between today and 20 July, and we are working hard to ensure anyone who receives incomplete marks has this resolved as soon as possible.

We understand that this is a frustrating time for our student community, and we are putting in place as much support as possible for those impacted by the boycott. We are committed to keeping students updated regularly both directly and with updates on Student News, and they can also find further information on the Strike action: information for students page, which is reviewed daily.

As ever, if any student is struggling and needs more support, you can point them to our student support website which outlines a range of mental health and wellbeing support we have at the university.

Thank you again to all of our colleagues who are continuing to go out of their way to minimise any delays or additional impact for our students.

Vice-President for Teaching, Learning and Students
