Events guidance for the period of mourning

09 Sep 2022

Guidance on how events should proceed

Following the sad news of the death of the Queen, the country has now entered a ten day period of national mourning.

During this period the following guidance should be taken into account for events that are scheduled to take place.

  • Private business engagements should continue as normal, ensuring they are respectful of the current situation.
  • Celebratory events should, where possible, be rescheduled, both as a mark of respect to Queen Elizabeth but also to those we are celebrating.
  • If events do go ahead consideration should be given to how they take place and appropriate changes made to ensure they are in keeping with the mourning period (e.g. care over offering alcohol, light hearted activities and to include a minute’s silence).

We are still awaiting guidance on the day of the State Funeral and will provide updates when this is available.
