Thank you from charity Shelter

25 Nov 2021

The charity Shelter want to say thank you for all your donations and invite you to a virtual talk on Giving Tuesday, 30 November and a community vigil on the 9th December.

In the past 12 months the most popular charity for donations via our Payroll Giving Scheme has been Shelter. University staff have donated an incredible £6,111.28 to this charity alone that supports the homeless.

Fabienne Clough, Regional Community Fundraiser (Greater Manchester) of Shelter has sent a message of thanks:

"On behalf of everyone here at Shelter and everyone who accesses our services across Greater Manchester, I want to say a massive thank you to every staff member choosing to support Shelter through payroll giving. The £6,111.28 you have donated this year means that we have been able to continue our vital services during a turbulent time for many people. To put that into context, one call to our Targeted Advice Service costs roughly £15, meaning your donations could cover the cost of support for over 407 people! Together you have changed the lives of 407 people and joined us in the Fight For Home. Thank you again for all your continued support!"

Shelter talk - 30th November between 12pm – 12.30pm

Fabienne Clough from Shelter will be joining us to talk about the work they do to support people affected by the housing emergency across Manchester and how we can get involved with their winter campaign and activities. Just email staffbenefits@manchester.ac.uk for the Teams link.

Invite to a community vigil

Shelter are inviting the community to join them on Thursday 9th December at their annual vigil to remember those who have lost their lives this year, as a result of homelessness.

This year  will hear from speakers at Invisible Cities and Shelter whilst showcasing the photography project of Cristina Mallai.
