Furlough leave ends on 30 September

10 Sep 2021

The Government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) comes to an end on Thursday, 30 September 2021

Furlough leave

As part of this, our University has been using furlough leave throughout the COVID-19 pandemic where colleagues were unable to do their job or because they had childcare responsibilities which couldn’t be balanced with work commitments.

The majority of staff who have been on furlough leave have now returned to work.  Any colleagues who are still on furlough leave will be asked to return to work on Friday, 1 October at the latest.  The last date that full or partial furlough can be claimed for is 30 September and managers should make any claims in the usual way via your HR Partner by Friday, 17 September.

If it isn’t possible for a member of staff to return by 1 October, managers should speak to their HR Partner about alternative working arrangements.

You can find out more about how our University has been using furlough leave at our CJRS StaffNet site which has guidance for both staff and managers on returning to work from furlough leave, or speak with your HR Partner.
