Dear colleagues
At this time of year we publish our University’s annual Financial Statements which give a detailed account of our University’s financial performance. You can find the Financial Statements for 2018/19 on the University website.
We want to be open and transparent with colleagues about where we get our income from and how we spend it, so we have put together an additional, summary which highlights the key messages from our Financial Statements.
This aims to give a better insight into how our University is funded, where we invest our income and the opportunities and challenges ahead.
As you will see from the information provided, 2018/19 was another testing year for UK universities. Despite this challenging environment our University reported a reasonable financial performance.
More than 95% of our income is spent on our core missions – on our staff and students to deliver research, education and social responsibility, with the remainder invested in the long-term sustainability of our University.
