Staff Learning and Development has curated a range of resources for colleagues at all levels of digital experience. You can access these resources via our Learning for all guide (found by clicking the lightbulb in Quick Links on StaffNet), an online resource which gathers all of our learning content together in one place.

Assess the level of your digital capabilities

A good place to begin your digital development is to assess your digital capabilities by using the JISC assessment tool. It delivers a report on your personal digital capability level; it’s quick and easy to use and helps you to identify the areas you need to focus your development on.

Google Digital Garage

The Google Digital Garage is located on King Street, Manchester and provides free face-to-face training and support on a wide range of subjects, as well as online. Sessions include topics such as Writing for Social Media and Spreadsheets for Beginners

Lynda

Lynda, the online learning platform from LinkedIn offers short courses which can also be accessed from a smart device. Content covers a broad range of topics including the essentials of using an iPhone and iPad, and how to create formulas in Excel. Email StaffLD@manchester.ac.uk if you do not have access to Lynda.

TED Talks

To find our more about the impact of digital technology in the workplace, watch the TED Talk Why you should treat the tech you use at work like a colleague. TED talks are short, powerful talks designed to spread ideas and encourage new thinking.
