The TIN-Bee (Trans+, Intersex, and Non-Binary) colleague network is a relatively new, highly active, confidential support and advocacy group, within the BeeProud Network. Formed in early 2025, the network has formed a supportive base for colleagues, especially since the EHRC issued its harmful draft legislation in April 2025. They host regular socials, and have active Academic Sponsors and an Advocacy Team that is always open to new voices.

If you are a trans+, intersex or non-binary member of staff, TIN-Bee is run for and by others like yourself.

  • July: Members were involved with a photoshoot for Manchester Pride, with UE colleagues including Duncan bearing the trans flag and trans positive placards.
  • August: The network met with the EDI Directorate who have agreed to support TIN-Bee with a network administrator, advice on funding applications, and links with Advance HE regarding a Trans+ Charter Mark.

What's next?

  • October: Articles are planned for Gender Fluid Awareness Day, Intersex Awareness Day and the Social Responsibility Newsletter, as well as a workshop for trans+ staff to build on previous EHRC Listening Sessions in the wake of EHRC publication.
