Sustainable Travel Week: 14-16 October, 2025
09 Oct 2025
Upcoming events as part of our Sustainable Travel Week.
Tuesday, 14 October – Travel Fair (University Place, 10am–2pm)
Open to staff, students, and our local community, the Travel Fair brings together everything you need to make your journeys cheaper, greener, and easier.
From free bus routes and rail discounts to electric vehicle schemes and cycling perks, there’s something for everyone. Chat to The Bee Network, Halfords, Cycling UK, UoM Sport, Northern Rail, and more.
Discover our new commuting and sustainable living apps, share your thoughts with our UoM Sustainability and Rewards teams, and pick up tips on sustainable business travel funding, bike safety, and even how to access free bike hire.
Plus, we’ve got free physio appointments (pre-register here), a class on easing lower back pain, Dr Bike for quick fixes and safety checks, and a chance to road-test Cycling UK’s range of rental bikes.
Wednesday, 15 October – Cycling Event
Wednesday is all about bikes!
Whether you’re a complete beginner or a confident rider, there’s something for you. Anyone is welcome to join one of our guided, beginner-friendly group rides from Brunswick Park (bring your own bike - pre-register here), or swing by our drop-in bike maintenance workshop to learn how to fix a puncture, tune your gears, or just give your bike a once-over.
Don’t have a bike? No problem – practise on one of ours. It’s the perfect way to build confidence, pick up new skills, and enjoy cycling together.
Thursday, 16 October – Health & Wellbeing
Take a midweek breather and give your body (and mind) a boost.
Start with Yoga for Active Travellers (pre-register here) to stretch and recharge, join a sociable lunchtime run at a steady pace, or slow things right down with our Walk or Wheel: Historic Trees Tour, where you’ll explore some of campus’s oldest and most beautiful trees.
Whether you want to move, stretch, or simply wander, it’s all about feeling good while staying active.
