Our University Multi-Faith Chaplaincy

21 Apr 2023

Recognising religion and belief at our University

At our University, we take a truly inclusive approach to our diverse community that celebrates a variety of beliefs, faiths and those who are secular.

This April our EDI calendar celebrates religion and belief as we see a rare overlap of key holy periods for many faiths including Muslims (Ramadan), Jews (Passover), Christians (Easter) and Sikhs (Vaisakhi, Sikh new year).

To coincide with April’s multi-faith month and our commitment to ensuring a greater understanding of the interweaving religions, faiths, commonalities as well as non-beliefs across our University community, we are pleased to launch our Multi-Faith Chaplaincy webpage.

Multi-Faith Chaplaincy

The Multi-Faith Chaplaincy team at our University brings together an informal network of independent affiliated chaplaincies and chaplains who welcome people of all faiths and those with none.

The team offers pastoral spiritual and religious care, and religious guidance to staff, students and on occasion their families or guardians.

Banji Adewumi said, “I am thrilled that we are launching our Multi-faith Chaplaincy and in April, our month of celebration of religion and belief in the EDI calendar.

“At Manchester, we recognise the importance of celebrating difference. The Multi-faith Chaplaincy is a great example of this and welcomes people of all faiths as well as those with none.”
