It is Cervical Screening Awareness Week (20-26 June 2022). Around 3,200 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer in the UK each year. Jo's Trust want every woman and person with a cervix to know where they can get information and support about cervical screening, and need your help to make sure this is shared far and wide! Visit the Jo’s Trust website for more information.

A video below explains what women or people with a cervix can expect when attending their cervical screening.

It is also Learning Disability Week. Mencap define a learning disability as “a reduced intellectual ability and difficulty with everyday activities – for example household tasks, socialising or managing money – which affects someone for their whole life. People with a learning disability tend to take longer to learn and may need support to develop new skills, understand complicated information and interact with other people.”

When you're communicating with someone with a learning disability, think about your tone of voice and your body language, as well as the words you use. Mencap has excellent advice on being a good communicator.

If you need any support for any type of disability there is fantastic support available via DASS.

This free event has something for everyone - hands-on activities, tours, live experiments, sporting challenges, creative arts, face-painting, a pop-up Manchester Museum, the chance to meet with our staff, students and community partners...and much, much more!
