Windrush Day 2022 takes place today (Wednesday, 22 June) and recognises the arrival of the 1,027 passengers of the Ship HMT Empire Windrush who arrived from across a number of British Commonwealth Caribbean countries to help rebuild post-war Britain.

The EDI blog post entitled ‘Windrush Day 2022 – the legacy’, honours the contributions of the Caribbean Community in the UK. Banji Adewumi MBE, EDI Director, Professor Dawn Edge, Academic Lead for EDI (Race, Religion and Belief) and Dr Julian Skyrme, Director of Social Responsibility share their thoughts about this day and its continued importance in fighting racial injustices.

The BAME Staff Network Co-Chairs, Laverne Condappa-Ward and Loraine McKoy also write about what the legacy of Windrush means to them.
