Urgent reminder: Have you requested your Windows 10 upgrade?

25 Nov 2021

If you are responsible for a University laptop or desktop computer that is operating on Windows 7, it is imperative that you take action and request an upgrade for your device before Friday, 10 December 2021.

If you do not upgrade your device to Windows 10 you will leave the University exposed to increased cyber risk.

Colleagues using University Windows 7 desktop computers and laptops are urged to act now to request an update before the cut-off date.

After this date:

  • Access to University and external networks will be blocked on the Windows 7 device.
  • Windows 7 licences, updates and security will end.
  • IT Services will not support any Windows 7 devices, unless they are notified before Friday 10 December 2021 that a specific device is required for the operation of critical equipment or software. If you need to retain Windows 7, advice and forms are available on the Windows 10 upgrade page.
  • Windows 7 devices will not be supported after 31 December 2021.

How to upgrade to Windows 10

If you have a Windows 7 device, please take immediate action and request your Windows 10 upgrade today. Please visit the Windows 10 upgrade page to do this.
