Latest campus management framework available

19 May 2021

A message from Professor Nalin Thakkar, Vice-President for Social Responsibility, and chair of the Campus Management Group

Campus

As the government’s roadmap out of National Restrictions continues we can now let you know more about how we intend to reopen our campus over the coming weeks.

The government recently confirmed that the third step of England’s lockdown roadmap could proceed as scheduled on Monday 17 May, enabling our remaining students to return to campus from that date. Under the government roadmap as it stands, the next key date is June 21. However, I want to emphasise that this date is subject to change given the surge in cases caused by the Indian variant. Colleagues should focus on ‘step’ rather than date in the roadmap, and we will keep you informed about how government decisions affect our work.

To help leaders and managers make decisions about resuming activities on campus we have published our updated campus management framework which outlines the kind of activity which is permitted at each stage. We have also published a separate table mapping our activity to the government roadmap.

The Framework has been put together by the Campus Management Group which I chair and has representatives from across our University. We are asking that leaders across campus use it to make decisions which are appropriate for their local circumstances.

Our first priority, as ever is the safety of everyone on campus and you will find advice, FAQs and risk assessment forms on StaffNet to help you.

Thank you as ever for your continuing adherence to safety measures, and hard work to support each other and our students.

Best wishes,

Professor Nalin Thakkar

Vice-President for Social Responsibility and Chair of the Campus Management Group
