Celebrate LGBT History Month with a whole host of activities

For the tenth year running we are delighted and proud to present a full programme of events for LBGT History Month

LGBT History Month

Wednesday, 5 February

The Rainbow Ride in conjunction with UMBUG.  Cycle to work in your best rainbow outfit or just a pair of laces followed by networking with fellow cyclists at Milk and Honey Café.  Laces available from lgbt@manchester.ac.uk.

Thursday, 6 February

12pm-2pm Time to Talk.  The Atrium, 1st Floor University Place 12pm-2pm.  Members of the LGBT community are more likely to experience a range of mental health problems such as depression, suicidal thoughts, self-harm and alcohol and substance misuse and we take this very seriously.  Come and share your experiences or listen to others over tea, coffee and cake.  Find out more.

Thursday, 13 February

12pm -1pm The Rainbow Ramble in conjunction with Manchester Strollers.  Don your rainbow laces and enjoy a stroll round campus whilst learning about LGBT History. Meet under the John Owens Arch. Rainbow laces available from lgbt@manchester.ac.uk.

Wednesday, 19 February

NEW LGBT Tour at the National Football Museum. Free tours at 11am, 1pm, 2pm.  Please book using Eventbrite - you must bring your staff/student card to gain free entry.

ALLOUT is 10!  Networking, live music, drinks and rainbow cake.  What better way to celebrate 10 years of the network.  Invites will be sent to all members and allies via Outlook.

7.30pm Martin Harris Centre GUY: A new musical.  For one night only, award winning production about finding love when you're 'fat, gay and nerdy'.  Book via Quaytickets.

Thursday, 20 February

9.30am-12.30pm Trans*fer: A Journey: this training session equips you to be more ‘trans aware’ at our University in a safe, non-judgemental environment and assumes no previous knowledge.  Book via Staff Learning and Development.  

Thursday, 27 February

The Rainbow Run in conjunction with UMRUN.  Run to work in your best rainbow outfit or just a pair of laces followed by a free breakfast at The Greenhouse Café. Registration essential. Laces available from lgbt@manchester.ac.uk.

12.15pm-1.45pm Room 3.9 Roscoe Building - find out what it means to be an ally on a training session for registered allies.  More info on the Allies training page.
