SEP rolls out new technology to support student recruitment and outreach

22 Nov 2019

The Student Experience Programme’s (SEP) roll-out of new technology continues next week with the launch of GeckoEngage, a new digital marketing and recruitment platform to support staff in the delivery of student recruitment and outreach activity.

Monday 25 November sees the release of GeckoEngage, one of a number of technologies  developed by the SEP to support student recruitment and marketing activities. GeckoEngage provides a platform that will enable us to capture information regarding the interests and aspirations of prospective students. In future this will allow us to better track our interactions with applicants from initial contact through to firm registration.

This new technology will support:

  • Off-campus lead capture e.g. at international recruitment fairs
  • Pre-application event management e.g. undergraduate and postgraduate open days
  • Online lead capture e.g. prospectus requests

GeckoEngage integrates with Microsoft Dynamics CRM which launched earlier this year to record interactions with external (student recruitment) stakeholders including international agents and advisers, UK school and colleges, sponsors and collaborative partners.

The system will launch alongside a suite of new training material and business process documentation, ensuring its standardised use across the University.  Additional uses of the system will be developed as colleagues learn more about the benefits it can bring to our student recruitment activities.

When fully implemented, Microsoft Dynamics and its associated technologies  such as GeckoEngage, will help co-ordinate, monitor and evaluate our marketing and recruitment activity University-wide.  This marks a significant improvement for the University, enabling us to standardise student recruitment processes and concentrate expertise around a single CRM system.

Once fully integrated with Campus Solutions 9.2 from October 2020,  CRM will allow us to build a comprehensive view of all our interactions with prospective students, applicants and offer holders. This future integration will improve the experience for staff involved in student recruitment, marketing and communications activities allowing them to better coordinate and more effectively target nurture campaigns with prospective students.
