03 Jun 2019

Welcome to Joyful June

This month is focussed on #BeHealthy - one of the University’s Six Ways to Wellbeing.

You can find inspiration here for ones to be healthy.  Our staff wellbeing calendar highlights activities you can get involved in this month and wellbeing lectures you can attend. Why not visit the Action for Happiness calendar for daily actions to help you find more joy this month. Tips include arranging to catch up with friends and creating a playlist of your favourite songs (how many of us miss making a mixed tape)!

This month we also have a chance for you to win one of three FriendinaBox gift boxes.

June highlights

The monthly cycle breakfast takes place on Wednesday 5th June and the UMRUN breakfast takes place on Thursday 27th June.

This month is the last of our wellbeing lectures until September – so don’t miss out!

Thursday 6th June - Relaxation and Recovery - In this session you can learn about the importance of recovery and looking after yourself to prevent burn out & build resilience and techniques to relax your mind.

Monday 10th June - As part of Men’s Health week, Andy Romero-Birkbeck from Hero Wellbeing is providing two lecture sessions for all staff on How to boost your energy (12:00-12:45) and Get Great Sleep (13:00 – 13:45).

Wednesday 12th June- Prostate Cancer UK will be providing a short lunchtime session on understanding prostate cancer. Early diagnosis of this cancer really affects long term treatment and survival rates so it’s really important to know the symptoms.

Other key events this month include the annual University Community Festival on Saturday 15th June. This has become a very popular event and one that a number of staff like to bring their families.

Visit the staff wellbeing calendar for the details of all activities on campus in June.
