Keeping your anti-virus software up to date is vital, both at work and at home. Having out of date software means the latest viruses may not be detected, which could harm your data or enable criminals to access your personal information, for example bank and credit card details.

  • If you are using Sophos Anti-virus, you must use version 9 or above. Support for Version 8 ceased on Wednesday, 30 April.
  • If you are using McAfee Anti-virus, you must use version 8.8.0 or above. Previous versions will no longer be supported from Monday, 30 June.
Please note, if you are using the Windows 7 managed desktop on your University computer, this software has been automatically updated for you.

If you are using older versions of the software, or you need instructions on how to check which version you are using, visit the “Is your Anti-virus up to date” page.
You can contact the IT Service Desk if you need further help, or leave feedback on the contents of the Anti-virus website through the Talk to us page.
