Can you help us understand more about the impacts of headphone use on hearing?

Description

Ethics ref: 2023-17611-30781

I am Cara a trainee audiologist and student at University of Manchester.

Many of us now use headphones on a day-to-day basis for work or recreational use.

I’m carrying out a research project on how the recreational use of earphones for gaming and personal listening devices is related to hearing ability.

I would be very grateful if you would fill out my survey about your earphone usage and auditory symptoms.

To take part in the study you will need to:

  • Be between the ages of 18-40.

Unfortunately, you will not be suitable for the study if you have had:

  • A diagnosis of hearing loss.
  • Surgery to the ears.
  • Exposure to the following treatments or medications; chemotherapy, radiotherapy, aminoglycosides (these include: gentamycin, streptomycin, neomycin).
  • Trauma to the head where you were knocked unconscious.
