Eurolens Research - contact wearers or lapsed wearers aged 18-40 required for a clinical study ref 691

Description

Ethics ref: 2022-12156-22297

  • Study Design This study will compare the performance of two toric contact lenses (i.e. ones designed for people with astigmatism). Both brands are daily disposable. During the study, volunteers will be fitted with both of the lens brands and then asked to wear each one for a 1-week period (minimum 5 days per week, 8 hours per day) before feeding back on their experience. Standard optometric tests and examinations will be used during the study, including the application of an optometric dye. Relevant COVID safety measures will be in place for the protection of our volunteers and staff.

  • Inclusion Criteria In total, up to 55 volunteers (aged 18-40) with experience of using daily disposable contact lenses within the last year are required to participate. Eligible volunteers will need to have a mild to moderate level of astigmatism, so we will be particularly interested to hear from you if you currently wear toric contact lenses (which are designed to correct astigmatism). Further inclusion criteria apply and people with some eye or health problems, and women who are pregnant or breast-feeding, are unable to participate.

  • Duration and Appointments Volunteers will attend for 4 visits over an approximately 1-month period. The four visits will last for approximately 90, 60, 90 and 60 minutes, respectively.

  • Reimbursement Volunteers completing this study will be reimbursed for their time. If a volunteer does not complete the study, a pro-rata reimbursement will be issued, based on the amount of time spent at the clinic. During the study, contact lens products will be provided free of charge. Travel costs or loss of earnings from your participation will be at the volunteer’s own expense.
