Viewpoint: Research Delivery Plan
18 Sep 2026
Professor Colette Fagan, Vice-President for Research and Executive Lead for International, introduces the University’s new Research Delivery Plan and explains how colleagues can help turn Manchester’s research ambition into action.
Our new Research Delivery Plan sets out how we will deliver the research ambitions within From Manchester, For the World, the University’s strategy to 2035.
The plan provides a roadmap for its first three years organised through seven priorities: catalysing outstanding research and impact; transforming our Research Platforms; ensuring a successful and inclusive postgraduate researcher community; supporting and scaling a thriving fellowship community; attracting, retaining and developing great research teams; enhancing the quality of our research culture and environment; and strengthening Manchester’s global influence and reputation.
In her latest Viewpoint blog, Professor Colette Fagan, Vice-President for Research, explains what the Research Delivery Plan means for our research community and how colleagues can help turn it into action. The blog highlights the work already underway across our research activities — including new and refreshed funding schemes, the transformation of our Research Platforms, investment in postgraduate researchers and Fellowships, and the development of One Research Facility — and sets out how we can all play a role in shaping, supporting and delivering the change.
