Get ready to celebrate our postdocs
20 Aug 2026
Postdoc Appreciation Week (PAW) recognises their incredible contributions and vital role in our research community. Look out for more details of the event, in the third week of September, on the ResDev website.
“Postdocs are really at the heart of the University’s research ambitions and activities,” says our President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Duncan Ivison.
“Often, they really are at the cutting edge of their disciplines so they’re bringing new discoveries, new questions, new energy to our research work.
“They’re also involved in the day-to-day work of our research activities – publishing papers, designing experiments, applying for grants – as well supporting other students, whether that’s PHD students or undergraduate students.”
So, as we do every year, we are marking Postdoc Appreciation Week (PAW) during the third week of September. The event celebrates the incredible contributions of our postdocs and researchers and the vital role they play in the academic community.
Originally founded in North America, Postdoc Appreciation Week (PAW) is now celebrated by universities around the world. We joined the tradition in 2019 with the award-winning Postdocs Assemble!
This year the Researcher Development team are working in collaboration with colleagues across the University to create inclusive, engaging events that connect researchers from all backgrounds and disciplines.
