Our approach, philosophy and principles

Introducing... Performing at Manchester

We're committed to our colleagues and really care about their careers and development. We've really listened to our colleague’s feedback, and we know that career and development conversations haven't always been as meaningful or consistent as they should be, our Your Voice Matters Survey tells us that colleagues felt they have regular conversations with their manager about their personal and professional development. We want to improve our colleagues experience and so we're evolving our PDR approach, enabling colleagues to perform at their best and support a culture of high performance. As a result, we're launching Performing at Manchester.

What's changing?

The previous annual cycle of PDR conversations will be replaced by more regular, meaningful and impactful quarterly conversations - providing opportunities to have focused discussions around your goals, career, development and review. These regular conversations will supercharge empowerment, enabling regular touchpoints for feedback, reflection and clarity of expectations, empowering everyone to perform at their best all year round.

How do I get started?

Have a conversation with your leader/manager and organise the first conversation around goal setting. You can download our Performing at Manchester Guidance Document - All Colleagues.pdf , to help prepare for this conversation, using our prompts, tools and supporting materials.  With a template to capture the conversation that you can use or feel free to use your own template if preferred.
