Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is carrying out a major programme of planned upgrades to improve the Metrolink network, with works taking place between Monday, 13 July and Sunday, 2 August.

Service changes

Improvement works will be undertaken at Deansgate-Castlefield and Trafford Bar, with additional works taking place in the city centre and on the Eccles line during the closure period.

The following changes will be in place:

  • No trams will operate on the Eccles, Trafford Centre or Altrincham lines.
  • Services on the East Didsbury and Manchester Airport lines will terminate at Firswood.
  • Services on the Rochdale line will terminate at Exchange Square.
  • Replacement bus services will operate between affected stops.

Normal tram services are expected to resume from the start of service on Monday, 3 August.

Plan your journey

TfGM is encouraging passengers to check journey information before travelling and allow extra time for their journeys while the works are taking place. Replacement bus services will be available, and valid Metrolink tickets will be accepted on replacement buses.

Car parks on campus are also expected to be busy during this period due to graduation, which is taking place between Monday, 13 July and Monday, 27 July.

Further information on the works and travel arrangements is available on the Bee Network website:
