Active Commuter Fair
09 Apr 2026
Come along on Thursday, 23 April, between 11.00am and 2.00pm and discover how commuting can be easier, healthier, and cheaper.
Thursday 23 April, 11am–2pm
University Place Square (or University Place if wet)
Whether you walk, cycle, wheel, or take public transport, there’s something for everyone. Meet expert teams, try out new things, and get practical advice to make your journeys work better for you.
Save money and get around more easily
Find out about support available, including Cycle to Work, train season ticket loans, our new car sharing scheme, and the CommuteUoM app -designed to make getting around simpler and more affordable. You can also visit the Bee Network stall to learn about local bus discounts.
Thinking about cycling?
Try a Starling Bank rental bike or take a spin on one of Cycling UK’s electric bikes. You can also explore pre-loved and hire options, and chat to cycling charities about getting started.
On the day, you’ll be able to get your bike registered, have it checked over for free with Dr Bike, pick up a discounted D-lock, and get practical advice on safe cycling and local routes from Manchester City Council and partners.
Fancy riding into work with colleagues on the day? Email es@manchester.ac.uk and we’ll connect you with a local commuter group ride.
Connect and have your say
Join the new Active Commuter Community and take part in this year’s travel survey to help shape how the University supports sustainable travel.
Boost your wellbeing
Take a break with a quick physio check*, try a beginner Vinyasa Flow session*, or join a guided tree or heritage walk or wheel* around campus.
There’s plenty to see, try, and learn - and a great opportunity to save money, improve your wellbeing, and enjoy your commute.
*Please note physio, yoga, and the heritage walk/wheel require pre-booking.
