Volunteer at FunLab and inspire young minds
16 Feb 2026
Join a fun, hands-on public engagement event at the Trafford Centre.
Would you like to try something different, build new skills and gain experience at a public engagement event?
Staff from across the University of Manchester are invited to volunteer at FunLab, a lively, family-friendly science and discovery experience at the Trafford Centre, taking place on Saturday, 7 March and Sunday, 8 March.
Volunteers will support the FSE Social Responsibility and EDIA Team in ensuring the smooth running of the event, helping to engage families and young people, and be part of a welcoming team bringing science and curiosity to the heart of a busy public space. No prior experience is needed — just enthusiasm, a willingness to get involved and an interest in working with the public.
This opportunity is ideal for anyone interested in Social Responsibility, outreach, public engagement, science communication or events, or for those who simply want to experience a different side of the University’s work in a supportive environment.
Travel and food expenses will be covered.
Volunteering at FunLab is a great way to develop confidence, try something new and contribute to the University’s commitment to social responsibility and widening participation.
