Teaching & learning software for 2025/26 - what will be available and how to access it

11 Jul 2025

In preparation for the 2025/26 academic year, a full list of the IT-supported teaching and learning software applications available from start of year is now on Connect.

Teaching and Learning Software Applications

If you plan to use software as part of teaching, it’s important to check this list to confirm that the software you need will be available from the start of term.

View the list here: Teaching and Learning software applications 2025/26

If you can’t see the specific software application(s) you require for teaching, please contact servicemanagement@manchester.ac.uk as soon as possible to discuss further.

AppsAnywhere – your T&L software application portal

From September 2025 all IT-supported teaching and learning software applications will be accessed via AppsAnywhere. If you use software applications on your course, there are steps you will need to take to prepare for this change. You can find out more via this StaffNet article.

What’s new for 2025/26?

We launched AppsAnywhere in PC clusters last September, so what’s new for the start of the new academic year?

  • Students will be able to access some software applications on their personal devices via AppsAnywhere
  • Staff will be able to access the same software applications, on their IT-managed staff device (i.e. the laptop provided by IT to staff when starting at the University)

The number of software applications available via personal and staff devices will increase throughout the year. The list (provided above) outlines which applications are available via which access routes i.e., which are available in:

  • All PC Clusters across campus (AppsAnywhere | Any Cluster)
  • Specific PC Clusters (AppsAnywhere | Local Cluster)
  • On students’ personal devices, or on staff devices (AppsAnywhere | My Device)

Note: The AppsAnywhere portal currently supports Windows operating systems only, and we are looking at alternative ways of connecting Mac and Linux users – more information will be shared in September.

Support and drop-in-sessions

To help you get ready, we’ll be offering drop-in sessions in September. These sessions are open to all staff. And we encourage those in teaching roles or who support lesson delivery to join one for practical guidance on accessing AppsAnywhere via the new routes and prepare you to support students, if asked.

Register your interest: complete this form.

Support materials will also be available via Connect at the start of the academic year.
