Use AppsAnywhere to access all IT-supported T&L applications from September 2025

03 Jun 2025

From September 2025 all IT-supported teaching and learning software applications on cluster PCs will be accessed via AppsAnywhere.

Apps anywhere students using computers

This will provide students with more flexibility in where they can access applications across campus, with more than 100 applications available to stream via AppsAnywhere in any PC cluster. And it will familiarise them with AppsAnywhere in preparation for future access on their personal devices; watch this space!

What you need to do (teaching staff)

If you use IT-supported teaching and learning software applications on your course, please take the following steps:

  • Tell your students – from September, they must use AppsAnywhere to access IT-supported teaching and learning software applications on cluster PCs.
  • Update your course notes – include this template text in your course notes, reflecting that students should now access IT-supported teaching and learning software applications via AppsAnywhere. (Replace placeholder text with your software name.) You will also find this on the AppsAnywhere support page, linked below (note: this page will be moving into Connect over the summer).
  • Signpost support – direct students to the AppsAnywhere support page for guidance. From this summer, students will automatically be logged in to AppsAnywhere when they log into a cluster PC, making access even easier.

Academics who teach will receive an email asking them to take the above steps, and this email will also be shared with Graduate Teaching Assistants.

We are also currently piloting access to AppsAnywhere on staff managed devices (i.e. laptops provided to staff when starting a role at the university). More information on this work and what it means will be available over the next couple of months.
