Colleague engagement survey themes for action
01 Jul 2025
An update from Ele Morrissey, Executive Director of People

Following the results of our colleague engagement survey, four themes for action at a University-level have been agreed.
They are:
- Building your career at Manchester
- Leading Change
- Bullying, harassment and discrimination
- Workload and Resources
Executive Director of People Ele Morrissey said: “By shining a light on these themes we will work together to co-create ways of addressing them which will improve the colleague experience for all.”
The themes will feature throughout the People and EDI Delivery Plans which are being developed alongside our Manchester 2035 strategy.
Leaders have also been empowered to take local action where there are specific issues and challenges and to work with their People Partner to develop local People Plans.
Ele added: “You also told us you were sceptical that action would follow from the survey. So we will be getting to work straight away, working together across the whole University community including working jointly with our campus trade unions, to turn your feedback into action.”
The University Executive Team will receive regular updates on progress at a University and local level throughout the year.
