Spot it, report it: Keeping campus safe for everyone
18 Jun 2025
As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment, we’re reminding all colleagues of the importance of reporting safety issues – no matter how small they may seem.

Why reporting matters
Every accident, incident, or near-miss should be reported via the Accident and Incident Reporting Form to prevent recurrence and help keep everyone safe. Whether it’s a near-miss, minor trip, or more serious incident, your report supports prevention.
Further information for line managers
Please remember to update Safety Services via safetyservices@manchester.ac.uk if a work-related accident results in a member of your team being off work for more than seven consecutive days, as this must be reported to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Work-related ill health
If you are experiencing symptoms that may be linked to work-related ill health, please contact Occupational Health.
Building and maintenance issues
Spotted a faulty light, loose paving stone, or anything else that doesn’t look quite right around campus? Report it to the Estates Helpdesk.
Security concern
For any security-related issues, Campus Support and Security are available 24/7: 0161 306 9966 (also on the back of your University ID card) and via the SafeZone App.
