Today's flooding incident - thank you to colleagues

A message from Patrick Hackett, Registrar, Secretary and Chief Operating Officer
I want to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to all of our colleagues who, since around 6am this morning, have dealt with a major incident caused by a United Utilities burst water main: the primary supply to our city. Their dedication and commitment have mitigated the impact what could have been a very serious set of consequences for our staff, students and indeed many of our precious resources in the library.
Our work is not yet finished and there are some areas, particularly the lower part of the Samuel Alexander building, where the impact has been significant and will require further work before we can get back to normal.
We'll continue to post updates to StaffNet and across our other channels, so please look out for them to help answer any queries you may receive from colleagues and students.
