Discounts, wellbeing inspiration, the Making A Difference Awards and a special talk on gardens from the Confucius Institute

If you are looking for daily inspiration that can support your six ways to wellbeing the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation has kindness ideas and downloadable posters. All their resources for schools, home & community & the workplace are free. As well as their daily calendar Action for Happiness has a wide range of resources including Ten Keys to a Happier Life.

New Be Active classes

You’ve still time to book for the for the next 8 week block (17th May until the 9th July 2021) of Be Active classes. There is still a special offer on the zoom classes to get 8 weeks for the cost of 6.

Virtual Purple Wave

Along with the free Purple Wave monthly challenges our sport team are now starting to prepare for our 2.5k, 5k,10k and half marathon virtual runs, the dates are set, and you can also purchase a badge on completion of this event and a chance to raise money for your favourite charity. Free wellbeing course

The White Rose College Manchester is offering you the opportunity to undertake their fully funded ITEC Level 2 Diploma in Complementary Therapies programme. The course lasts 15 weeks.

Chinese gardens

Our friends at Manchester Confucius Institute are holding a talk: Chinese Gardens - Design and Symbolism. This will give you the chance giving you the chance to catch a glimpse of the beloved blossoms and flowers of China during this time of year. Firstly, landscape architect Dr. Youcan Ren will hold this online talk on the symbolic meaning of Chinese flowers and garden design. Hopefully she will inspire you to experiment in your own garden or create a special and meaningful gift for someone. 

Making a Difference Awards

Everyone is invited to join live online the University’s Making a Difference Awards for Social Responsibility. The awards, will be held on Wednesday, 12 May, from 6 - 7:30pm live on YouTube and Facebook. See the shortlisted entries!

Volunteering

Would you like to join the network of Staff Wellbeing Champions across the University? They help signpost staff to the University wellbeing services, national health and wellbeing days.
