Professor Martin Schröder, Vice President and Dean for the University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE), and a team of senior colleagues formally welcomed Sunan Jiang, Minister Counsellor for Science and Technology at the embassy of the People's Republic of China in the UK, to the prestigious event hosted in the Sackville Street Building.

Mr Jiang was attending the Manchester-China Showcase, a one-day event designed to highlight the many collaborations between Manchester and China and to give a range of academic colleagues from across FSE the opportunity share their knowledge and experience on developing research links with Chinese counterparts.

“The University of Manchester is a world leader in research. To maintain this leadership and to keep improving, we must remove the barriers that might prevent us from working with the best. This event will help our academics and staff to understand the research landscape in China, to better identify opportunities as well as obstacles and to give them the chance to learn from colleagues’ experiences in order to build new research collaborations with China,” said showcase organiser Joachim Huet.
