'Nature and Me': local people explore nature and sustainability on film

09 Apr 2013

Free screening on Friday, 12 April (12-1pm) in the Kanaris Lecture Theatre, Manchester Museum.

The Museum has recently completed an HLF-funded project, entitled ‘Nature and Me’, which developed 42 short films of local people exploring their views of nature and sustainability. This project accompanies the Museum’s Living Worlds gallery, and some of the films are on show on screens in the gallery.

During the project, local people (including University staff, local residents, conservationists, sustainability enthusiasts and many, many others) worked with Kate Day and Naomi Kendrick to develop scripts for their films. The films highlight each participant’s interests in nature and their attitudes to sustainability, and the wide variety of nature-related activities that they take part in. Films were made by Stockport College TV production students.

This was an extremely rewarding project to work on, highlighting the many ways in which people connect with nature in their everyday lives - and in the heart of the City. For a heartwarming hour on a Friday lunchtime, come along to see a selection of these films.
